Seriously, we have had a brilliant year, met some fabulous folks on our photographic journey and I just wanted to say a huge thanks to everyone we have worked with and photographed,

Over the last few weeks I’ve been asked that age old question by almost everyone I meet “so are you all ready for Christmas?” I’m ashamed to say that my answer is always “Mmm…not really, I never know what buy for people!” I don’t exactly have the family who has everything either, it’s just that I find it so hard to find something a bit different. I know my husband wouldn’t appreciate socks, as he would fear that they would meet the same fate as all the other pairs from Christmases past…in the odd sock basket that lurks year long in the cupboard of lost things!
And what do you buy for teenagers these days? TV? got one. Games machine? Got one. Laptop? got one of those too!

So I trawl the local shops and then the internet for SOMETHING different. something that will last long after those laptops and TVs are gone, one after the un-lost socks can be darned no more. My old friend at the Boonric gallery at Inglenook farm could be the place for me. I’d like to buy my loved ones something original, something beautiful, something they can admire for years.

Two weeks ago I was up at Calderbridge Community Centre for the Whitehaven and district Canine Association’s limited show. I’d never been to a dog show before and didn’t know quite what to expect! All the dogs on show were amazing and it was such a friendly atmosphere! The lighting in the centre was a challenge to say the least and by the afternoon the sun was streaming through the windows! Challenged my skills at working with the available light I have to say!
Here are a few shots from the day.

Inspired by the upcoming inter-club competition at our local camera club, The Copeland Photographic society, I arranged this shoot with our very own up and coming super model, Frances Bailey. A crazy idea that’s been swimming around in my head for ages now which I wasn’t sure would work, but what the heck I thought, you have to give it a go don’t you? So that’s what I did!
The theme being ‘colour’ I ordered the brightest coloured Tempera powder paint I could find on the Internet and Fran and I made it up as we went along at her uncle’s ‘tatty barn’ in whitehaven! Helped expertly along by Uncle Brian and his son Andrew and my lovely daughter Alice!
May I just add that trying to buy powder paint from a local art suppliers was completely impossible! Hence my need to order from the lovely Artifolks down in Portsmouth!
So, here are the results of a crazy, fun-filled early evening somewhere up north in good old Whitehaven, Cumbria. I hope you enjoy the looking as much as I enjoyed the doing!
